Allow front end editing of the item - does not work

Just built my first very simple component and it all works perfectly - except that when I click on an item in the front-end list view I get a view of that object - but no editing ability. I have clicked the "Allow front end editing of the item" so what more do I need to do?

Ah figured it out - the link in the list is just to show the object - I need the TaxonForm menu to actually edit
