Not sure if this is a joomla- or CC-bug, but this is the case:
Adding mediamanager as a standalone field in my component opens the mediamanager in a modal like it should, including the option to create a new folder.
When adding the mediamanager in a subform though i can upload images, but don't have the option to create a folder, which is pretty inconvenient. Anyone any thoughts?

Joomla subforms have some limited options and even some field types does not work at all (we have removed them from subform fields). Unfortunately we can't do so much on this.
